mimosa pudica

Question
hi, i found a small wild mimosa pudica in the garden (im living in amman, jordan). i tried re-potting it giving it totally different soil from mus to peat soil. and now the plant still look green but have red border/ outline. the leaves stay closed when i put it under full or indirect sun. but when i put it under shade the leaves slightly open, but still closed. when i touch it the leaves are already closed so the steam goes down instead. is there anything im doing wrong? why isnt it opening and what are the red borders on it?

thank you :)

Answer
Hi Yousef,

Mimosa is a regular garden plant.  They are a tropical weed.  They do best outside in regular soil with light fertilization.  They are definitely full sun plants.  Most of the behavior you're seeing is probably from being transplanted and disturbed.  It's usually not sunny enough for them indoors.

Good Growing!
