Hi, I would like to know why on my Geraniums and Impatient plants, the leaves turn yellow. Thank you, Patti
Answer -
If you have not fertilized, my guess is lack of fertilizer. Mix 1.5 tsp of 15-30-15 miracle grow soluble fertilizer into a gallon of water and water your impatiens. Geraniums can be given a slightly stronger solution if you like. Repeat every 14 days through the summer period. You can also topdress the soil around the plants with 1 tsp of Osmocote 14-14-14 instead if you prefer.

Otherwise, check that the plants get enough water. The soil should be slightly damp, but not dry and not soaked.

Answer
Geranium can take full sun and should be planted in full sun except if you are located in southern california or southern florida in which case morning sun alone is best.

One more thing to look for: if the geranium is planted too deep (compared to the pot it was in at the nursery) it may turn yellow leaves and die.

The planting site should ideally consist of loose soil such as garden soil to which potting soil or compost has been added. Hard clay can hold too much water when wet which can make the plants turn yellow. Too little water and too much water are both a problem.
