Question
I have a cactus that is over 5' tall and has 5 branches off the bottom with one 10 inch new one and a 3 inch new one... I had left it outside since it was so big and heavy in the pot and now I went to check on it and the top growths are turning dark and soft... is it too late to save it if I bring it in since we have had frost and cold weather... I have other cactus that were here when I moved and they grow fine with the winter weather but are low to the ground... what can I do now to save my potted one

It would be helpful to see a picture to determine whether you have a cactus or a Euphorbia. In either case, it sounds like frost damage. There is a big difference between a greenhouse grown (or indoor plant) and a one that is aclimated to the outside world.

Even a greenhouse grown pine tree would be damaged if were planted outside right before winter. The reason it makes a difference whether or not it is a cactus or a Euphorbia, is because once a Euphorbia starts to rot, it can be difficult to stop.
