Aloe Vera Plant Problems

Question
I recently was trying to get my aloe vera plant to grow so I put it outside in the sunlight thinking this may help it to grow. But instead my leaves sort of wilted a bit and are starting to turn brown. Is there a way I can fix it? Your help would be much appreciated! Thanks Nita!

Answer
Dear Anita,

The problem is, you put a plant in direct sun that was not used to it, so it sunburned. Succulents (including Aloe's) grow slowly and only during certain parts of the year. Aloe's are primarliy from the southern hemisphere, so they grow in our winter. Keep the plant inside, but make sure it gets as much light as possible, about 15 hours per day. Keep it out of direct sunlight, and it should recover.

Fight the urge to water it, as it is already stressed and if you over water it, it may die. Only water when the soil is dry. Be patient and it will recover and grow, albeit slowly. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
