Question
I have a piece of aloe vera plant, I would like to root.  It came from a plant that had too much water.  It is soft at the root end, but has no visible root. Can this piece be rooted ? Can aloe  vera plant be rooted from a broken stem?

Dear Flora,

Yes the can, but if the stem is soft, then there is already rot present. Depending on how mu stem is left (you will need at least 5 inches to make this work), you may be able to cut off the soft part, let it "heal" for about 2 to 3 weeks, then replant. Water only when the soil is dry and be patient as it will take a month or two to root.
