Baby Aloe Vera

Question
We have a terrifically happy, growing aloe vera plant.  It's almost 2 feet tall and beside it is a new baby with four leaves now.  We're wondering if we can replant the baby in it's own pot without harming it or the big plant.  Any suggestions on timing, method, etc?
Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Rosalind,

You can sever the baby or offset from the mother plant. Then let it heal over night in the open air. Then you can plant it not very deeply in a small pot filled with damp potting mix. Provide lots of good light and mist the soil surface moderately whenever the soil surface seems almost dry. After a few weeks, you can water it regularly when the top half-inch of soil is dry.

Removing the baby will not harm the mother plant. This can be done at any time of the year.
