Euphorbia Eritrea

Question
Hi!
I bought a euphorbia eritrea about 3 weeks ago. In the garden centre each branch had a crest of leaves (like a toilet brush!) However, within a week, these started yellowing then dropping off. The top and bottom branches have been the worst, but now the middle branches are doing it too.
The garden centre says it is its annual leaf drop - but this seems very coincidental with us bringing it home. We wondered if it is positioned wrongly: it is adjacent to a window in an alcove in quite a bright room.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
Joanna,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You are on the right track. Euporbias do drop their leaves, but usually in the fall. You'll want to make sure your plant isn't getting any direct sunlight. Most store bought plants are grown in a greenhouse and will sunburn if exposed to direct sunlight. Also, make sure you are letting the soil dry out between waterings and when you do water, soak the soil well. In winter, make sure to let it go longer between waterings, as Euphorbias are very sensitive to over watering. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
