Can my cacti survive the move

Question
Hi, you've helped us in the past.  We are moving from So. Cal to Tehachapi, CA can our cactus and succulents (all potted) survive there?  It does snow a bit in the winter but is considered zone 8.  We have a 50+ year old barrel cactus and are most concerned about it.  Thank you.

Answer
They needv to be kept above freezing. If you are moving to a climate that is colder, but remains above freezing, I'd let the cacti go dormant in the winter.  I don't think a bit of snow will damage the plants as long as it melts immediately.  If you're concerned, keep them in a more protected area during the coldest months.  I'm just not familiar with snow in zone 8.

To be on the same side get in touch with the California Cactus and Succulent Society and see what they say.

Sorry, it's a new one for me, so if they tell you something different, please let me know.  What what I can find your old guy should be ok with a little extra protection.

Maureen
