plumbago

Question
I live in zone 7, I was wondering if Plumbago's will come back or if they are only an annual? Thank You

Answer
Plumbago is hardy to zone 8b and will probably not survive a winter in zone 7. If it is planted in a protected spot with a southern exposure, mulched well and you have a mild winter it may regrow in spring, but is not not a given.

To protect it, you can mount a bill hill of shredded leaves, pine mulch or compost on top of the planting area after a first frost kills it to the ground. Next early spring, remove the mulch and hope for the best.
