Ganoderma is a genus of wood-decay fungi causing butt rot/root rot in palms. It produces conks (shelf mushrooms) on lower trunks. Internal decay progresses silently; conks indicate advanced infection.

Atomic Grow Assessment

This product appears to be a spreader-sticker (adjuvant) that helps other chemicals adhere—not a fungicide. It won't treat Ganoderma.

Actual Management

• Remove conks: Break off to reduce spore spread (doesn't cure internal fungus).
• Fungicide limitation: No fungicide cures established Ganoderma. Systemic fungicides (e.g., propiconazole) may slow progression if caught very early.
• Improve drainage: Wet soils accelerate decay.
• Plant in sandy, well-drained soil: Avoid rich organic amendments.
• Monitor structural stability: Infected palms become hazards. Consult arborist for risk assessment.

Prevention

Avoid trunk wounds. Sterilize tools between palms. Remove stumps/roots of dead palms.
