Norfolk Island pine disease.

Question
I have a 4 ft. tall Norfolk Island pine in a large pot that was my late wife's pride & joy.

Within the past couple of months, the branches have been drooping, turning brown, and dropping fronds on the floor.

I have noticed that most of the branches on the tree are closely wrapped in what appears to be spider silk, although I can't see anything that appears to be spiders or mites.

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.   ---Roy

Answer
Hi Roy,  I believe you are giving it too much water and you are rotting it.  If it is sitting in a dish to collect water you need to empty the water out of the holding bin about 15 minutes after watering.  You may want to sit it outside in a somewhat shady area to give it some natural healing.  A good rain would help put the right nutrients into your soil.  kathy
