Question
I have a cycad that is tens years old, until yesterday I seen this very beautiful heart shaped pods around the top of the tree.
Its orange in colour and its like a bunch of grapes but in a full circle.
Is this normal

Hi bennie,  Cycad fruit starts green, but becomes bright orange when ripe. The orange is a warning, because cycads are toxic. Eating the fruit can cause vomiting, liver damage and death. There抯 some evidence that it contains a neurotoxin, which can accumulate in the body and eventually cause paralysis. To be safe to eat, the toxins have to be removed from the fruit. If a girl didn抰 do it right, her family would get sick and she would be exiled from the tribe.
