spots on agave plants

Question
Larry...
I live in Phoenix.
All of our agaves (different types)have developed small brown spots all over their leaves. It looks almost as if a vandal made little scratch spots all over them. They look healthy otherwise. We don't know if this is disease or pest related. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Kathy

Answer
Sorry this is so late Kathy,

How often do you water these agave? They are very drought tolerant, so once every week or 10 days should be enough unless they are planted in sand. Do not spray water on them if you can help it. Water at the base of the plant. Has the weather been unusually wet and cold there this winter? That could be it too.
