Question -
I live in Coldwater, MS. (about 25 miles from Memphis, TN).  I have two crepe myrtles that all of a sudden got sticky stuff all ove them.  I read here that it is caused by Aphids.  If I do nothing will it kill my trees?  It is so terribly hot here that I hate to get out.  I'm not spring chicken.
Thank you

Answer -
Yes it does sound like aphids. No the aphids will not kill the tree at worst they make the tree loose its leaves earlier than normal. The aphids are easily controlled if the tree is not too large. All the leaves must be sprayed for complete control. Check with your local nursery/garden type store for a systemic insecticide for aphids.

Answer
There are several herbicides that will kill brush--here is alink to one that is called Brush Killer. http://www.epinions.com/content_79064501892

A good one is a product called Roundup. Here is the link to it:

It will kill most green vegetation. All are made to kill plants so when they are sprayed make sure the spray does not get on a plant not wanting to be killed.
