Sunset Maple Tree Problem

Question
Hello from Buffalo, NY.  The past two summers one of my Sunset Maples has experienced premature browning and withering of it's leaves.  My other two Sunsets are fine.  All three trees were planted about 6 years ago.  This particular one has had some root damage due to nearby digging last year, but it had good growth this spring.  What am I dealing with?

Answer
Any time a trees roots are damaged it shows up as foliage dying. There is almost a direct relationship between the roots and the foliage. Try watering it but do not over water (1 inch of water each week is enough). I would suggest you also check with the local NY Forestry office and ask one of their Foresters to come take a look. There maybe some environmental reason for the problem. Their number should be in your local phone book under State agencies.
