comfrey bugs


Question
I have a large area of comfrey ans it is being smothered by green/black caterpillars.As I try to garden without using pesticides can you recommend something to get rid of them. I am picking them off manually which is time consumming.

There is a biological insecticide that is composed of a bacteria.  It is considered an organic product and is effective for caterpillars.  It goes by the names of Dipel or Thuricide or Bt.  Be sure to read and follow the label directions completely.  It is readily available from your local garden center. Visit with the center personnel on it use and effectiveness.
