mullberry tree

Question
I started a mulberry tree from a clipping about two or three years ago.It has been doing super until now,it's still growing really well and still bearing a good amount of berries and is about 6 feet tall but I noticed that it has this white looking powder on it more and more, when I wipe it off with my hands it almost looks like little tiny maggots,It don't move or anything but this stuff is getting thicker and thicker and all over the whole tree. What should I get to fix this or should we even be eating the berries?

Answer
Hi Gwen..I would spray your plant with an insecticidal spray or Neem Oil to smother the fungus on the tree.  It will also protect it from coming back.  I prefer the Neem Oil as it does not wash off.  Don't think it bothers the berries but left unchecked to hurt your tree.
