Dripping Foam

Question
In the woods near our house there is a large vine type plant that has been cut down.  Recently I noticed it has started to produce a dripping foam-like substance from the ends where it was cut.  On one branch it is orange and the other it is yellow/white.  It has been dripping for at least two weeks now.  What is this?

Answer
You would be surprised what kind of root system that vine plant may have in the ground.  The foam is most likely sap from the root system coming out of the cut area. It will eventually quit doing this.  My guess is the vine will begin to grow again from the base and will have to be cut again, and again, and again over the next few years if you want to kill it.  I hope this answers your question.
