Money Tree Plant - Repotting

Question
Hello, I recently repotted a Money Tree plant - I had to get rid of another plant that was growing in the pot, but unfortunately whilst doing this I think I took too much root off of the money tree!! Since repotting, the plant has sat in the green house to recover, but I've noticed some of the leaves have patches (brownish) and are easy to fall off. There are also little white powdery dots on the leaves (these were here before repotting) is this a problem?
Have I killed the plant or can it be recovered??
Thank you very much for your time and help.

Answer
The plant is probably suffering from transplant shock and some leaves may fall off during the acclimation process.  This is to be expected.  The white dots could be scale insects.  If the white dots will scrape off with your fingernail and have liquid inside when squashed, then I would say this may be the case.  Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub insecticide can be mixed with water and poured on the soil in the pot.  The product is taken up through the roots and will kill the bugs within a week or so.  It should not harm the plant, even in the repotting phase it is in.  The bugs could be causing the defoliation and can kill the plant if not controlled.  They may be the real culprit here.  Check it out and see what you think.  Good Luck.
