Rust spots on Petunia Blooms

Question
I recently bought a beautiful hanging basket of petunias, loaded with blooms.  I deadhead everyday and water daily.  The past week, I have noticed that some of the blooms have rust spots all over them before they are ready to be removed in the dead heading process.  What causes this?  I'm hoping it's just a simple thing like I am over watering.  I water from the top with a watering sprinkler can.  Should I be just pouring it with a different spout directly into the soil without getting the foliage and blooms wet?  I've been fertilizing with Miracle Grow once a week.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
There are petal blights caused by both fungi and bacteria.  I would try watering the soil only and do not get the blooms and foliage wet.  Once you remove all of the old spent blooms, then watch and see if the new blooms do not have this problem.  I think the plant will be OK.  Good Luck.
