dwarf meyer lemon tree help

Question
i received a dwarf meyer lemon tree by mail order in early may. It came bare root so i planted it in a larger plastic pot 12 inch opening and 12 inches high. i used an all purpose soil and gave it plenty of water. i placed it on my deck where it gets a lot of morning sun and most of the day. i have lost several leaves. they slowly turn yellow and fall off. i have had no new growth. the remaining leaves are a dull washed out looking green.they also have some white crack marks on them?? a few have some small holes in them. i check the tree for insects daily and have not noticed anything. i have used miracid 30-10-10 twice since i've had the plant. i couldn't find anything in my area (NJ) for citrus trees. i have started seeing some flower buds but am thinking that might be because the tree is stressed? how can i get my tree to look healthy? should i repot in better soil? please help.
thanks

Answer
Hi enza ... you need something with a higher middle number to produce roots to help get your plant started.  Also a product called super thrive that could also help.  Make sure you plant is not sitting in water if you have a bowl under it.  After 15 minutes it needs to be emptied or the plant will drown.  Also with a new plant you may have to water more often not necessarialy on the whole plant maybe just on the outside edge as the plant dries from the outside in.  The plant itself may be wet but the outside could be dry and the roots won't spread out.   Also make sure you buy a good fertilizer that is slow release and stay away from miracles as they are not the best
