Improved Meyer Lemon dropping leaves

Question
Given Improved Meyer Lemon tree as gift in September.  Looked gorgeous.  Has steadily lost leaves.  Has flowered a bit and set some tiny fruit, but they are dropping, too.  One of the leaves that dropped today had some dark green dots on it.  Some leaves still on tree are a bit sticky.  Some leaves are yellowing.  (All leaves were very dark green.)

Answer
Hi BeeBee, If your lemon has steadily lost leaves, you are not watering it enough.  You don't say if you have it in a container or ground.  If so, did you move it up, where do you live?  It may be two problems, one being bugs sucking on the leaves and the other not enough water.  In a container, I live in Florida and water in a pot every day.  If in the ground a minimum of 3 1/2 inches per week.  If you do not water enough your fruit will be dry, or fall off, not mature, or maybe not bear at all.  For insects, I use 100 percent pure Neem Oil, which absorbs into the leaves and does not wash off for added protection.  It kills nothing just alters the taste  the bug is used to eating so it goes else where.  At our nursery I have been using it for about 8 years, it is also a fungicide and miticide, I use nothing else.
