Question
I have a 8yr old 12ft meyer lemon planted in backyard here in Orlando,Fl. Last year received bumper crop of fruits->100,this year-1/2 of the fruits on the tree are hard & brown-some are small, some are nice sized but hard & brown & some are 1/2 soft & green & 1/2 of the same fruit hard & brown. Also less fruit this season. What has caused this ?
I feed every 1-2 mos w/citrus feed,it gets water 1-2xweekly-more with rainy season. Please advise Thank you

Answer
Hi Patricia, it could have been winter damage as this was a real cold year.  You should be watering about 3 1/2 inches per week of water, sounds like a lot of fertilizer, maybe causing the problem.  I have a feeling it is not slow release, which is usually put down twice a year.  A cheaper fertilizer can be binding up the tree.  Try a product called atomic grow to put your tree back to good health. Along with a slow release fertilizer.  kathy
