Chanticleer pear. Have ?s asked to Steve that he answered

Question

pear tree
IF you can read Steve's q & A's regarding my tree, great. I see there are breaks
in the bark, lines going up & down and bard breaking off. Dirt is well, but not
extreme.Leaves are yellow at tips and black drying leaves about 1/3 into
branches.Planted 5 years ago, always healthy til now. neighbors behind
rootilled their soil 4 wks ago. Fertilized in spring. Could it be too much water?
bark crumbling off, why? Need different fertilizer? Used a tree comp in spring.
Than YOU very much

Answer
Hi Diane.  I did not read Steve q and a as it could take all day to find it.  I can tell your tree is drowning.  The bark breaking is the first indication of too much water and black tips on the leaves.  If you have grass or mulch around your tree, remove it so the ground can dry out and do not put it back keep dirt around your tree.  Use a good slow release fertilizer not junk from the box stores.  You will use less and it will help your trees.  Cheap fertilizer is fill with salt and chlorine to make it cheap, you get what you pay for. Check out Atomic Grow to also help bring your tree back to life and make everything else in your yard healthy with an organic product.   kathy
