Bradford pear infestation

Bradford peaar damaged
Bark is easily pulled off.  Small yellow spots under park. Ants seem to be feeding on them  Bark shreds like it was rotted.  Leaves turning yellow and are becoming sparse.  Have three, possibly 4 tree having smilar but less of a problem. Same infestation seems to be attacking a maple.

This area may represent some level of internal decay that can be caused by a variety of bacteria and/or fungal microorganisms that have gained access to the internal areas. This is a slow, yet progressive situation that is irreversible. You may wish to start thinking about a replacement.  There are many trees that offer some desirable features.
