Raccoons Again

Question
Stephen,
Raccoons are forcing me to lock my cat door which leads to the laundry room overnight, which in turn forces the cat to poop in our fireplace or on our rugs.  Please give us some ideas to keep the raccoon out of our laundry room--cat food kept in laundry room.  When I seal up the cat food, I see suspicious raccoon prints all over the kitchen floor and atop the washer, like he's looking for more food.
eeek!

Answer
I don't know of an answer on the cat door as one hasn't been manufactured yet, that I know of, that can withstand a raccoon assault. kitty box training would be inorder for your cats. Otherwise, you will need to trap the raccoons and dispose of them according to state law. Then reopen the cat door till the next problem. Never leave food or water out over night. This will just encourage more animals. force your cats to a schedule would also be a good idea. I can only hope that you decide to keep the cats indoors as free ranging cats are a major environmental menace.
