I have a maple infected with leaf galls, I want to replace it with a Japanese maple will it too become infected or can I treat the ground with something?

There are lots of different things that cause leaf galls on maple. This first step is to get the galls identified and the best place to do this is your local Cooperative Extension Master Gardener program. Tell me where you live (city/state) and I'll help you locate a nearby office.
