Whitefly

Question
Hi, i'm from Malaysia and I recently planted 3 pots of bird eye's chilli from seed. They are all infected with whitefly... I believe it came from my garden rue that I bought before planting the chilli plant.

I previously sprayed my garden rue with a mixture of dishwasher and plenty of water. It killed most of the flies. I stopped because I thought they were gone... but clearly they are not... and seem to be multiplying on my chilli plant. I think the dishwasher liquid mixture works very well... but is it safe to spray on the chilli plant? Because I think my family would consume the chilli plant when there are fruits.

Answer
Insecticidal soaps are very safe, whether you mix your own or purchase it from the nursery. However, one application is not enough. It must be applied every 5 days for several weeks to ensure total control of the infestation.

Good luck, and have a nice weekend.
