Skunk-like animal seen in Northeast Texas

Question
A few nights ago I was riding around our farm on the 4 wheeler trying to spot some wild hogs.  An animal that looked like a skunk in build and tail darted across my path.  The problem is that it was solid black and it had no smell.  Do you have any ideas on what I might have seen?

The farm is about 15 miles NW of Paris, Texas.

Thanks,
John

Answer
There is no reason to think that it wasn't a skunk. The size of the wipe stripes can vary significantly between members of the same species.

Also skunks don't smell. PePe LePew is a myth. They only smell when they spray, and then they still don't because they don't spray on themselves.
