agricultural corn meal as a fungicide

Question
Hi Charlotte

You recommended agricultural corn meal as a fungicide a few days ago + suggested feed stores.  However, I can't find a store that sells it. All say do I mean corn gluten meal.  Any ideas where to get it in Upper Marlboro, Maryland?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Lynn;
I said you have to go to a feed store for alfalfa meal.
agricultural corn meal should be at nurseries that carry organic products.
I use baking soda for fungicide.
The onl;y funguis problems I have had are powdery mildew on my honeysuckle and crepe myrtles, and black spot on my roses. I disolved about 2 or 3 Tablespoons of baking soda to 2 gallons of water, and sprayed them. I treated toastools with that, a long time ago, and treated brown patch fungus. Since I have been on the organic program, I have not had toadstools ( mushrooms) in my yard, and I have had no more brown patch.
For comletement of a whole yard, I would apply agricultural corn meal.
Gluten corn meal is for an organic feed and weed. I have had it recommended, and have read a lot about it, but have no used it.
I put organic lawn care products, /marlboro, Maryland, and this is what I got.
I dont know if they are all organic, you will need to call and see if they have agricultural corn meal.
I am not sure the corn gluten will work as well as a fungicide, a it is a different part of the corn kernel.

Call those places.
American Plant Food had organics in their business profile
I don't know how far you are from Bethesda, but you can call all the nurseries in your area.
Our Walmart stores down here are carrying a lot of organic products in their garden shop. You might be able to find it at walmart, and you must have one of those near you.
There is a Walmart on almost every corner. LOl
If you have to treat the whole yard, it would take some time, to do it with a garden sprayer, but you could mix it stronger, like about a half cup to a 2 gallon sprayer, and spray to cover a larger area, then water with a sprinkler or even a soaker to put a little more water on it to spread the baking soda out further.
Good luck.
