Holes in green beans

Question
It looks as if some pest is boring little holes in the green beans of a neighbor of mine.  I have not seen any bugs or worms of any kind on their plants.  Do you have any idea what pest has an affinity to green beans? What can my friend do, and what should I do to protect my bean plants?

Answer
Those master sleuths called SLUGS are munching as we speak, making a nice big fat juicy dinner out of your vegetables and flowers.  Go out every night with a flashlight and get them off the leaves, into an empty Starbucks container with top.  And don't think the little ones are just a little hungry - they're eating more than all the others combined because they are growing like hotcakes.  Be merciless.  Keep me posted and thanks for writing.
