mossy lawn

Question
how can Iget rid of moss ( a lot) in my three lawns?

When can I start, season wise?

thank you.

Answer
Hi Ken;
Usually when you see moss it is because there is too much shade. Can you prune out tree or shrub branches enough to get more sun on the lawn?
You might spray the area with a fungicide, which should help get rid of it. If you want to use a chemicle fungicide, the one I got the best redults with was Funginex.
Since I went organic, I use baking soda disolved in water.
Saturate the mossy area, or the whole lawn, and saturate the ground. You probably don't have to soak it more than an inch or so down.
Read the lable of a chemical fungicide to see if there are restrictions regarding the season to use them. The only thing I used Funginex for was black spot on my roses and powdery mildew on plants, and I used it whenever the fungus showed up. For moss, I have always just pruned out branches for more sun, and that took care of it.
Rhe baking soda, use anytime. Damp weather makes more moss and fungus (which is what moss is).
