inside insect repellant

Question
i was reading your answer for clay lawns, and mentioned the
use of cedar mulch and had some plants you used for insect
repellant, what are some of them?
thank you

Answer
Hi Curt;
Cedar bark mulch outside to repel fleas, ticks, and termites, as well as other insects.
Inside i use fresh rosemary. I put a piece about 1 inch long on each cabinet and pantry shelf, and a longer piece under each appliance in the kitchen and laundry room, unthe the sinks and bathrioom vanities, where the pipes come through the walls, I put a piece between the pipe and the wall. I put a little piece of rosemary anywhere roaches can come in or hide. i put new rosemary about once a month.
I get cedar oil from a health food store, and paint a small trail of it along the clothes poles, and around the baseboard. keeps moths etc out of the closet.
I have a large planter of Lavender at each entrance. It makes a beautiful entrance plant on the porches, and helps keep houseflies from coming inside. Lavender is a very good relaxant. a drop of lavender oil spread on a stuffed toy will help a fussy beby get right to sleep. You don't want the oil directly on their skin, so i put a couple drops of the oil on my hands and rub them together, them rub my hands all over the toy to spread the scent.
Lavender helps me relax and get to sleep.
I don't know if it is one or a combination of the three, but since I have been using fresh rosemary, and fresh lavender inside the house, and cedar oil in the clostets, I don't have spiders, silverfish or earwigs anymore.
Feel free to write me anytime you have a uestion you feel I can help with.
Charlotte
