Aerators & Dethatchers

Question
What is the diffence from Aerators & Dethatchers I have a 2 year old home and the grass just dosent seem to want to get full. is there a suggestion you can give me to help out.

Thank you

Answer
Dethatchers rip into the top of the soil (thatch) by either ripping with metal arms or slicing with knives through the thatch. Aerators will punch holes through the thatch with spikes or hollow thines. Latter will depost cores of soil on the top to decompose. I recommed core aertors with hollow thines for best result.

In addition to above, fertilize every 3-4 months (not during hot summers if you live in the north) and mow frequently and high (2.5-3.5" tall meassured after a mowing). Spread grass seeds over the lawn (overseeding) every year, too.
