Tine Dethatchers

Tine dethatchers add to your arsenal of good lawn and garden care products. Have you ever seen sprinkler heads adjacent to a paved area that were dwarfed by the layer of grass above them? In order to permit the sprinklers to adequately water the lawn, the thatch must be frequently cut back and away from the sprinklers.

This is most often seen in public parks or medians, but the same thing happens in private yards when grass is allowed to grow unchecked for years. More and more grass area must be cut from around the sprinkler heads in order for them to project water high enough to reach the lawn a few feet away. Tine dethatchers are designed to take care of this natural grass growth for homeowners before it becomes a problem that is insurmountable except through lawn removal and reseeding.

Tine Dethatchers Control Layering

Dethatchers are a great piece of lawn care equipment that prevent difficulties with a lawn from getting out of control. By regularly dethatching your lawn, you do not get the buildup that complicates lawn protection. Thick mats of lawn layers will eventually require drastic measures to restore the health of the lawn. As with other yard equipment, tine dethatchers come in various sizes to suit the size of the lawn area.

These machines work by carefully lifting compacted, matted layers of thatch from underneath the top layer of grass to the surface. The width range is 32-48 inches, and the dethatchers come in various configurations: front mount to be used with lawn sweepers, or those that come with a hitch to be pulled behind a small yard tractor. Used in conjunction with other lawn equipment, such as aerators, dethatchers will help keep a lawn looking good year-round.
