mold

Question
My lawn was just put in this summer but the rain washed alot away in the front. I have some grass but a lot of dirt with black mold. How do I get rid of the black mold so that I can redo this front yard before the cold weather comes in. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi /mark;
I have been getting a lot of questions about black mold this year.
I have never seen black mold in lawns before. I am thinking it is probably the same black mold that grows in our houses because of dampness.
That black mold is not nearly the scary thing the media has made it out to be.
People tend to get hysterical about things that have been with us for centuries.
I got that black mold in my house last year, and i just washed it down with water with clorox in it, and it disappeared right away.
If you spray your yard with water with clorox in it, or even with baking soda, or
hydrogen peroxide, bet it will kill it right away.
For clorox, I would put about 1 cup clorox to about 2 gallikns of water, in a garden sprayer and spray the area. Bsking soda, put about 1/4th cup per gallon of water. Hydrogen peroxide, about 1 ounce per gallon or two gallons of water.

PS. Let me know which you try, and how it works. As I said, I haven't seen it myself, but I have been getting quite a few questions about it, so it must be somnething we are going to have to deal with more often now.
Put corn gluten down, this fall, or now, and that should eliminate the fungus problems.
I am not sud\re how often or how much, but I am sure there wilol be directions on the packaging, of how to use it.
I have not used it yet, just having heard about it this year, but I am going to look into it more.
