take all root rot

Question
I have lost about 1/2 of my st augustine lawn to take all root rot...My local nursery told me to
use fungicide, I did,  and lawn is still deteriorating.  Can I save my lawn? Or is it a lost cause. What can I do?

Answer
Hi Lana;
well, chemical fungicides cause more problems than they help.
I had not heard of that fungus before, so I searched it. I got something up about it in St. Augustine lawns, and I opened it. It seems to have all the information about it.
It is from the University of Florida.

I think it will answer all your questions about the fungus.
I would not try a chemical fungicide though, I would go with an organic one.
1ounded TABLESPOON of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of agricultural soap, per gallon of water, ans spray the area, or get corn gluten meal and put down 15 to 20 pounds per 1000 sq.ft, and water it in.
Either of those should kill out the fungus.
