Lawn Mold & Fungus

Question
QUESTION: 60% of my lawn is destroyed by Mold & Fungus.  It started near tree line, where it stays moist. How to stop the mold from growing any further? What we should do to have green lawn?

ANSWER: Hi Shail,

Do you by chance know what kind of mold or fungus you are talking about? Could it be moss (which is neither mold nor fungus)?

I just need to know more specifically what we're talking about here before I can provide some solid advice.

I look forward to hearing back.

QUESTION: Yes, it can be moss.  But I do not know.

Answer
It probably is moss, in which case, you'll need to rip it out and apply limestone very heavily before re-seeding with a more shade tolerant seed. Get a steel rake and rough up the soil once you've applied the limestone so that the limestone gets down into the ground.

This should take care of the issue. If you're still having problems in a few months, write back and let me know what's going on. We can take it one step at a time.

Good luck!
