st. aug blade tip browning

Question
My st. aug is doing wll, but I have noticed some areas that are a little brown at the top of the blade.  This is not a disease.  Earlier in the summer, before I got my blade sharpened, I noticed that my grass was being ripped and not cut.  I am assuming that this has stunted the growth of that grass.  Only a milimeter or two is brown.  The rest of the grass is as green as the rest.  I have put 15-15-15 down and I have some new grass growing and all is fine with that, but the grass to which I am referring has not grown in several months, although it appears healthy.  I am thinking about lowering my blade and cutting below the area to which I am referring, but I hate doing that.  Any suggestions??

Answer
You know, I have to be honest here.  I don't think you need to do anything, and I don't think there's anything to worry about.  You indicated that only a millimeter or 2 is brown.  There are a whole host of issues that could cause browning and not all of them are of concern.

Even if the grass isn't growing, as long as it is green, it's healthy.  As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If things change and take a turn for the worse, let me know.  Otherwise, enjoy the fact that the lawn is green and you have less to mow!

Sincerely,
