Cover for lg. clay/mud areas

Question
Hello. I operate a 501c3 animal rescue/sanctuary in IN. Where we recently had a new kennel pole barn built the excavation caused a HUGE clay/mud pit area covering the whole canine play yard.  Need ideas on how to permanetly inexpensively (funding is from my pocket and donations) fix this nasty area safely for the dogs.

Answer
Well, I'm a grass guy, but I'd recommend s different course of action here.

1st, lay down a strong landscape fabric on top of the soil after smoothing out the surface as much as possible. Next, get a good bark mulch and lay it down on top of the landscape fabric  at least 4 or 5 inches thick.  There you go!

Before doing this, please consult someone with more of an expertise in animals. I'm a grass guy as I said before. I only know that grass would really NOT be a good option here.

Good luck Joyce!
