what should sod look like?

Question
I hired a company to landscape our backyard, but the grass doesn't look good. I thought that when you first laid sod it looked green, but ours is a yellowish color.  The landscaper told me that the sod is good, it's just during this time of the year this bermuda grass is this color.  We live in the southwest region, so this may be true. So should the brand-new sod look green, or is it okay if it's yellow?

Answer
Sod is stacked on pallets for shipment; the pieces in the middle of the pallet remain in the "shade" longer. Therefore you can expect some yellowing. After it has been laid, the sod should green up within days. If it does not, then there is some other reason - like lack of water.
