New construction lawn

Question
I live in South Dakota, and built a new house last fall.
The soil is a hard shale, I plan to dig it down 6-8 inches.
Bring in about 4 inches of manure, and 4 inches of top soil
Then seed with Scotts Kentucky blue mix.
I was wondering what manure would be better.
Burnt cow manure, or horse manure with sawdust mixed in.
Do I have a good plan, and is there anything else to do ?

Answer
Hi Dean,

I'm not much of a fan of using manure, so I don't feel comfortable telling you which is better. I'd recommend using either leaf compost in place of the manure or just sticking with 6 inches of good topsoil. Make sure to miz the soil and compost thoroughly if you use both. Otherwise, the plan sounds good to me!
