Lawn mowers

Question
I recently purchased a new mower, and am finding that it randomly leaves a single blade of grass standing here and there. My previous mower didn't do this - at least not nearly as much. I am mowing St. Augustine grass. Could it be the way the old mower cut the grass previously, or could the engine not be reaching high enough RPMs?  Just trying to cover all possibilites before going back to the manufacturer. The blades are in good condition, and very sharp, and I checked that all 4 wheels are the same height. Also I always run the mower at full throttle.  Thank you for your time, and response.

Answer
This happens with the best of mowers in the best of times. However if it is too much for you, try cross-mowing. You might try travelling in a lower gear or at lower rate but keep the full throttle setting. I always cross mow; it is good for the grass.
