Muddy Yard

Question
My yard is a soggy mess! My yard has plenty of grade and is fully planted (although with 85% clover). I was considering running corrugated pipe from my drain spouts to the end of the yard, but I don't know how well that would help because the mess seems to be consistent throughout. I don't know the make-up of the yard, but it is black in color. Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Answer
Hey Alexis -

My first reaction is to ask you for a little more detail about your lawn/soil. You say that your soil is black in color. This normally means that it is nutrient rich, but this may not be so in your case. Can you tell me a little bit more about the texture of the soil? How long has it been muddy? You also said that it is fully planted with 85% clover. What is the other 15% planted with? Also, which region of the country are you in?

Have you consulted any other professionals about this? If so, what did they say?

Once you answer these questions, I can help you with the overall problem a little better.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing back so that I can help more.

Thanks!

Steve
