front entryway waterlogged

Question
Hi,
My front entryway is problematic--neighbors poured concrete over an area that was previously dirt, and now it catches water like a pool.   Could I please send you some photos??  I had a realtor come look at it and she was baffled by what to do with the area.  We will add gutters, but it is still super mossy and unattractive, covered in cement. -Amy

Answer
Amy:
If the concrete is pooling water the only way to fix it is to remove the concrete, regrade the area, and repour concrete (if you need pavement) with a minimum 1.5-2% slope to drain. If the area is a low area and you can't regrade because of trees, walls, plants, etc then you'll need to install some drainage pipe and an area drain. See www.ndspro.com for drainage products you can use for this. Most drain products are sold at local home improvement stores and garden centers.

Good Luck
