Answer
normally 100% to 200%. it depends on what you buy them for. at holidays i would buy flowering azaleas for $1.85 and sell them for about 2 weeks for $6.99. after the holiday i would sell the rest for 1/2 price($3.50) to get rid of them.
good profit on them. annuals i would sell for $1.89 a 9-pak that i paid .89 for. i'd normally sell out of them w/out having to reduce them. deciduos and evergreen trees were usually marked up 100 %. everbreen shrubs i would usually mark up 100% plus $1 to cover pickup(unless i got a good deal and could increase my profit. profit is not a dirty word and w/out it you won't be in business too long. i stressed quality and kept my plants looking great at all times. i was also very knowledgeable on landscape matters and would advise people what to do. this gave me a good edge over my competition.
there are numerous pesticides & delivery systems you could use safely on your lawn and in the house.  get to a local garden center/nursery and quiz them on pesticides available for your pest problems. take a sample of the pest for them to ID. put it in a sealed plastic container.  quiz them on safe general broad spectrum pesticides while there. roach bait/poison hotels are probably the safest to use indoors by a homeowner. if it is a big problem consult a local pest control company who is state certified. ask to see there license. they can apply restricted use pesticides not availabe to the general public.
good luck
