Question
Can you recommend a good do-it-yourself landscape program that will let me put in my coordinates, ie. patios, house and garage location, etc. and give me examples of possible layouts.   Reason.  The back of my house is plain and needs help. I have 12 x 12 patio.  One the left side of my patio is the garage with goes about 8' beyond my patio to the side, the front is bare and the back is of course the house and on the right is nothing.  I would like to try to make an interesting design incorportating my patio with shrubs, plants, etc. and also try to make an additional patio space by using landscape flat stones and putting small spreading plants throughout the area.   Thanks I hope I've explained enough.

Really any of the landscape programs you can purchase at Best BUy and the like will be suitable for the homeowner.  The really good programs used by professionals cost upwards of $1000 and I am thinking that this is probably not what you are looking for.
