Question
i am installing driveway lights also lights in my yard
the lights will work on a sensor at night
i want the lights to come on slowly [ie dim up]
not come on in a flash
how can i achive this or what piece of equipment do i need

Electically, it's a simple gizmo (like the indoor manual light dimmer), so I'm sure it exists.

I know that the "On The House" radio show mentioned that using a dimmer can create a better "mood" in the garden than just on/off, but I know of no automatic unit that can be set to go on slowly, and their website didn't specify anything.  I'd try asking your local lighting or electrical contractor.  

Some "Smart House" units may even have this as a standard function.
