Wisteria replacement

Question
I have a Wisteria vine growing on a Patio arbor for shade in the summer, problem is Wisteria is too aggressive for the area as I have electrical line about 4 feet above the arbor and the wisteria needs to be trimmed every two weeks to keep it out of the electrical lines, i am going to dig it up and need to replace it with some other vine that is fast growing but not as aggressive as wisteria, can you recommend one for me?

Answer
Depending on your USDA zone, here are a few "replacements" for your Wisteria:  Morning Glory Vine (a noxious weed in So.California), Grapevines (edible but can be have messy fruits), Clematis Vine (all sorts of varieties), Trumpet Vine, or Winter Creeper.

As you have discovered, Wisteria can spread over 20 feet, if it really likes it's location.

There are others (like Virginia Creeper or Boston Ivy) but they are even WORSE to remove once established, than your current problem plant.  -M
