small back yard

I live in Chicago and I have a very small back yard which I don't know what to do with it. I love sitting outside reading when weather is permitted, but the back yard is so boring. Do you know any landscape designer in Chicago who is willing to work on a small yard (9 x 22). I need to have a quote from someone to see if I can afford it, but I don't know whom I should call. Please help!
